The Wake Up Foundation presents for the first time in Bulgaria a cybersecurity manual for those affected by domestic violence.
For victims of domestic violence, digital abuse is real and dangerous. It is a constant cycle of control and harassment that many people do not know how to break.
A study by the foundation shows that for 85% of people who leave an abusive relationship, digital abuse continues after the breakup. This has a serious and long-lasting effect on the mental state of those affected, and often on their children.
Digital violence has many faces. It can include:
- constant phone calls and messages
- location tracking
- installation of spy apps
- hacked emails and social media accounts
- surveillance through home devices (cameras, smart devices)
- tracking devices placed in a car
It is important to be able to recognize these forms of violence. If you or someone you know is affected by this type of violence, seek help. Visit our website and learn how to protect yourself.
